Birthday Plants

January 22, 2012
I think… the funkiest birthday present I ever got was a Teacup Orchid plant! I mean it’s a real live fuchsia orchid that still flowers a year later. It’s just the sweetest thing! Everytime I water it, I’m reminded of the giver’s love—my dear husband.  It sits on my office desk and it’s quite therapeutic especially on harried workdays. So this year on my birthday, if anyone of you out there is thinking of getting me a present, another teacup orchid plant would be much appreciated! And you can find some nice birthday plants over at www.proplants.com. Choose wisely and generously! ;)

Tranforming Our Patio with Modern Outdoor Furniture

January 21, 2012
The furnitures displayed at maisonbertet.com taught me the meaning of STYLE. Well, see… I never cared for hanging-out much in my patio. I just used it for BBQs when friends come, or birthday parties for the kids. But, my patio was totally transformed by my new modern outdoor furniture. Coming home from work, my husband and I enjoy relaxing there. With our Trina Turk Collection, we can lounge and unwind with style!

Discount Pool Supplies

January 12, 2012
When I was a kid, I had a love/hate relationship with summer. I loved how it gave me time to be with my family and friends to go on picnics and go to the beaches. Especially the beaches! I love water! I just love how it hydrates and cools my skin. When we can’t go to the beach, my mom would then take us to my aunt’s house because they had a small pool.

Even though we never had a pool, I know how taxing it was for the helpers to clean it. They need to rake the water for fallen leaves and they needed to put an expensive solution on the water to “treat” it. My mom never wanted a pool because of these reasons. I also had a friend who has two massive swimming pools. I can just imagine the cost and effort to maintain them.

I wished we had Doheny’s before. Now, people can just buy pool supplies and accessories through websites like Doheny’s Water Warehouse. Doheny’s offers pool supplies and accessories in discount prices. They give discounts up to 50%! Their pool accessories include pool slides, ladders, floaters and among others. If we had had a pool, I will be sure to check Doheny’s for any needs.

State Dinners

January 9, 2012
Guest post written by Derick Burks

I watched a great documentary the other day on indiana directv. It was about the food that is served at the White House. It was really entertaining. Often different administrations have different house staff, but they interviewed a pastry chef that had worked at the White house for the last twenty years. It was really interesting. The documentary followed all of the preparation that goes into having a State Dinner. The staff at the White House prepares for weeks and weeks. There are details that you don’t even think about that are involved in the set up. Security is a big issue ( especially after the Salahi incident). The chefs start preparing a menu months in advance. They fly in food from all over the United States the week of the Dinner. Of course the first lady has to approve the dinner and drinks that are served. She helps to decide on the decorations, seating arrangements, etc. I just couldn’t believe how much work went into one State Dinner! Maybe one day I will get to actually attend one!

Job Search

December 6, 2011

This guest post from Lenny Mcknight

I recently lost my job, so things have been pretty tough lately. I’m living at home with my parents again, and it’s starting to drive me crazy. I’ve been looking for a job now for a few months, and I am really getting sick of being home all the time. I try to get out of the house and do different activities, but then I end up feeling guilty that I’m not spending all my time looking for work. I have started looking for options that would let me venture out and still look for work and came across http://clearwirelessinternetservice.com. It looks like they have mobile wireless services available at affordable prices, which would be great for me. If I had a mobile connection I could get out of my house, and look for jobs, which would solve a lot of my problems. I think I would feel less pressured if my parents weren’t around watching me. Hopefully I’ll find a job soon and things will start looking up. I’m not sure how long I can take this application and interview process. It’s pretty grueling and I’m starting to lose hope.

Thankful!

December 3, 2011
It’s almost the end of the year and it’s time I count my blessings. The year 2011 has been really good to me and my family. There had been a lot of opportunities - travel, career, home ownership, etc. Although there had been minor bumps along the way but we managed to overcome them unscathed.

Anyway, speaking of blessings, I would like to mention a few of the companies I have worked with these past four years. These companies had given me the opportunity to become a work-at-home mom. One company worthy of the recognition is Triangle Direct. I’ve been with this company since day one and so far, I have no complaints whatsoever. They are very easy to work with, pays on time and best of all - they’re fun! They’re the best among the rest if I may say so. :)
